Sidecar
Ingredients
- 50 milliliters Cognac
- 20 milliliters Lemon Juice
- 20 milliliters Triple Sec
Instructions
A Sidecar is a classic cocktail known for its simple yet elegant combination of brandy, orange-flavored liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec), and fresh lemon juice. It's a drink that exudes sophistication and offers a harmonious balance of sweet, sour, and spirituous flavors.
To prepare the cocktail:
- If desired, rim a chilled cocktail glass with sugar. To do this, moisten the rim of the glass with a lemon wedge, and then gently dip it into a plate of sugar, coating the rim evenly. Set the glass aside.
- Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
- Add the brandy or Cognac, orange-flavored liqueur, and fresh lemon juice to the shaker.
- Shake the mixture vigorously until well chilled.
- Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared cocktail glass, preferably a chilled coupe or martini glass.
- Express a lemon twist over the cocktail by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a quick, gentle twist to release the oils. Drop the twist into the drink or discard it, depending on your preference.
The Sidecar cocktail is celebrated for its well-balanced and classic flavor profile. The brandy or Cognac forms the base, providing depth and warmth. The orange-flavored liqueur adds a citrusy and sweet dimension, while the fresh lemon juice contributes a tart and refreshing acidity.
The garnish of a lemon twist enhances the presentation and adds a touch of citrusy aroma. The Sidecar is a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts who appreciate a refined and timeless drink that showcases the interplay of quality spirits and simple yet complementary ingredients.
